Life is simply to short to be concerned with things that simply do no matter. I remember once being encourage to “stay in my lane.” Those words have never left me, and I remember them often. Why? Because they are simply true. Each of us is uniquely gifted to do something in this world. We are purposefully designed. We each have something to offer. Some may do something grand and visceral while others may do something with soundless, roaring thunder. Does it matter? Should you be disgruntled because you don’t look, speak, act, do, write, or whatever it is you do…like somebody else? Well, stop it! Stop looking at others and comparing yourself. Stop looking at others and thinking you’ll never measure up. Stop it, and stop it now. You are a treasure. A person of immeasurable worth. This isn’t just some self talk to make you feel better. This is truth. And what is truth you may ask?
Truth, is this. We were created by God for God to His good work, and he gave us each talents, gifts, and abilities. Jesus Christ is the Good News of God bringing restoration and reconciliation. All you have to do is believe, accept Him as Savior and that He died and rose again for your sins. Know that God has something for your to do. I sum it up as I once learned it a couple of years ago–Love God. Love Others. Do what His Word says.
Each one of use is unique in our design. Some of us can sing. Some of us can write. Some of us are great at sports, while others of us can reconcile the worst of enemies. Some of us have the gift of mercy, and some of us make people laugh. Whatever your gift is, use it. Don’t let it languish because you decided all of a sudden there just wasn’t a place for your kind of gift.
Forget about the naysayers. You’ve only One person to answer to. At the end of it all, what do you want to hear? “Well, done good and faithful servant. Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take charge…” or “You wicked servant! You knew, did you, that I am a hard man, taking out what I did not put in, and reaping what I did not sow? I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but as for the one who has nothing, even what he has will be taken away” (Luke 19).
I don’t know about you, but I long to hear him say, “Well done, beloved daughter.” Change. This means a change is coming, and it starts with me. It can start with you too. Beloved, just do it. Whatever He has called you to, don’t be afraid. Go for it. You’ll find wings and feet to your faith that will cause you to take amazing flight.
Besides, you only seek to please an Audience of One. Where is your gaze now?
That’s a little something to consider.
