The Woman Bleeding

Jesus the Healer
Jesus the Healer

At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?” Mark 5:30

Know what I love about this story – the woman, with a constant 12 year bleeding issue, who reached out touch the hem of Jesus’ robe? The women was bold in her faith. She took such a risk to move into the presence of Christ. She had been an outcast, one unclean. She’d been cut off from community and connection. She had been separated from family and friends, but that day she took a risk.

She would see Jesus. Touching the hem of His garment she believed, “if just touch the gem of his garment” and instant healing came. The bleeding ceased but so too did the disease of isolation. Wholeness came that very day.

Christ knew power had left Him. How did he know? Is this the result of our faith colliding with the presence of God sparking a miracle that speaks to our need?

“Who touched my clothes?” Who pressed in to Jesus? Who had the audacity to believe this man? Who risked it all just for one touch from the Savior? The woman. In that moment she was not fearful. In that moment she was faith filled. Her faith moved God’s power and wholeness came to her that day.

Would you do the same? Where in your life has the bleeding not stopped? Where is your life hemorrhaging today? We know that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. And He is moved by your faith.

If you could just touch the hem of His garment, what healing would come?

You can. Press in. Pray. Touch his hem in the quiet. Reach out. Believe and have faith. And you will find His Power fill your life. Even if your faith is the size of a mustard seed, His eyes will see. His heart will notice. And His power will come to your life.

Read the whole story in Mark 5:21-34.

  1. I loved this, Marvia: “Is this the result of our faith colliding with the presence of God sparking a miracle that speaks to our need?” Insightful and so right on. xo
