So I’m writing a book, a second memoir of sorts. It’s been an interesting process and also emotionally exhausting. I’ve rediscovered and also uncovered new things about life, faith, and pressing in to life. None of the writing has been easy, but I think it has been worth it to dig in to the whole truth hidden behind doors. Of course, writing memoir can take a lot of a person. Be gentle with yourself. Sometimes you come to the page blank. Words won’t come. You’re staring at a blank screen. Nothing is making sense. I had that moment the other day. Continue reading Still You Are Here
Always ever pointing upward
Sing, sing, sing
My heart ascribes greatness to my God and King
Sing, sing, sing

In the Story Sessions community, women come together from every walk of life to share the writing journey. No woman is left to wander alone. We surround one another with affirmation, hope, swift-kick-motivation, and hearts that listen and embrace the whole of members. We also write.
Last week our write-in prompt was a photo of a female statue. Here is my poem/song, written for the women who dream, build, bridge, and press in to community.
I didn’t always love being in tight knit community, but that’s because I was afraid. 2013 became a year of wing spreading, muscle flexing, and flying. These days, I am much less fearful and embracing community, embracing the words, and welcome the fire in my belly. These mighty women inspire me.
In the Story Sessions writing community, women encourage and empower one another. No voice is silenced. Every soul there is learning to sing her song and roar her brave.
The Psalms are one of my favorite books in the bible. I read them and find hope. I contemplate them and find peace. I speak them and recall promise. Psalm 67 reminds me of the benevolent love of God. We have the opportunity to participate in the display of His goodness – a witness, lives point upward. The writer of this psalm encourages to the reader to praise, praise, praise. It shows the world how good God is.
