Truth for Today

i hear you marvia davidsonLife is often crazy. I have found that though I should pray more during these times, I usually don’t. I might barely offer up the “emergency toss up prayer” and go on about the business of living; but this is not living the abundant life in Christ.

God cares about the every-day-ordinary-mundane events of our lives. Nothing gets past Him, and nothing goes unnoticed; so it would make sense then to tell Him everything; but I don’t always do that. Continue reading Truth for Today

The Beginning {Or Why I’m Here}

no stopping marvia davidsonI am a writer.  I write.  I’ve enjoyed writing for at least half my life.  However, the majority of that writing was in journals of various sorts.  I started by first blog in 2009 with a different name.  Then I started another one, because I was still trying to figure out what I wanted to write about and take a shine to.  I began my third blog, The Human Impulse, that same year.  This one is a much more natural feel.  It’s about the impulse within each of us beating softly, refusing to be silent, reminding us who we really are.

So why am I writing all this to you, and myself, now? Because I am in the process of writing a manifesto.  I’m laying down the bones of a dream burning like fire in my heart.  It won’t let me go, so I’m giving it breath and space to live now.  I do not wish to take these words with me to the grave.   I wish to cast them far and wide.  They may not be for all, but somewhere they will catch, and do what they’re intended to do.

Writer Words

acceptance marvia davidsonWords. Splatters of phrases mixed with heart, healing, emotion, fire, pain, solace, and the Divine. Words.

They matter. I love words. I’ve been writing since I was a teenager. I think I began my first journal somewhere around the age of 15. To be honest, I wrote songs first. I could hear soaring melodies and dissonant harmonies in my head. Words joined themselves together like arms linking one to another. Continue reading Writer Words

No Stranger to Stress and Strain

Mind blown tonight as I listened to Jim Richards speak at Gateway Singles ministry on pain, heartache, and looking up to recover the gaze.

WoW! This message was super intense – and then this thought …

Christ is no stranger to stress and insurmountable odds.

He didn’t fake it till he could make it.  His emotions were real and raw.  He acknowledged the depths of his heart-wrecking to His Father.  Look at Gethsemane (Christ praying before his crucifixion)  – the Man, the Son of God broke a blood-sweat!  That’s how intense the tension in His heart was, the stress and strain so overwhelming that His body physically expressed the severe inner turmoil – blood vessels bursting from the pressure of what was about to happen.  Maybe you’ve been there too.  You may not have sweated blood, but maybe you know that kind of crushing, immobilizing stress – the kind that stops you nearly dead in your track rendering you incapable of moving forward.  Hold faith beloved.  Be encouraged.

A Different Revelation

originally written in 2008

A couple of months ago, I had a revelation. Something my mother said made perfect sense; “unwrap yourself from yourself, and wrap yourself around Jesus.”

We, if we are Christ followers, are meant and made to be attached “in” the Vine called Christ. He’s the Vine, and we are the branches. This is where we live, move, and have our being—Acts 17:28. Like tree planted by the water are we—to grow up before Him—not crooked or twisted. We are to be straightened with arms outstretched ever reaching to God; yet something horribly bad can happen when our eyes are averted from the Lord. We begin the “navel-gazing,” and our roots become dislodged from God—they turn in on us; and they begin to strangle us, twisting and contorting.
