Love Letter to Creative Souls

Bloom
All these blossoms
All these stems
All these blades
Were made to bloom

What if being a whole and authentic creative soul meant remembering who you always are?  Would you still create?  Would you still write?  Would you revel in the thought, or would you be stilted, crushed, or even immobilized?  Sister, it’s okay.  We’ll walk together on this journey.  Being a real and true creative soul means embracing the whole of your story, and we want all of you to shine.  How can that divine light in you shine bright and undimmed, if you’re hiding or switching the lights off?

Today I’m over at The Story Sessions with a love letter to creative souls.  Come take a read, and be encouraged.  Perhaps you might find something of the return to being fully you, fully whole, and fully aware that you carry beauty and hope.  It’s what the world needs more of right now – people who love and are real and true.

We {Real Talk Tuesday}

hold hands m davidson 2014I am me.  You are you.  Together we’re stronger.  It’s true.

But really!  There is power in the “we”.  I am a conservative person, reserved, and very guarded.  I don’t always easily trust people.  I wait till I can trust them before I share the realities of living in the right-now life.  I’m okay with that.  It’s part of my process, but living in community, whether online or in real life, calls for intentional connection person-to-person.   Continue reading We {Real Talk Tuesday}

Art Everyday Month – Day 11

We are intricately designed and utterly unique.  No two of us are alike.  Our lives toss and turn, ebb and flow, traversing hills and valleys.  We are who we are who we really are.  Did you catch that?

When I think about art tonight, I realize many times I come “blank.” There seems to be nothing to offer, no paint to spill, no comfort to design, or no recipe to bake.

What It Means to Help Children Dream

Wild Goslings by Brandy Walker

I never really had a dream to write.  It was just something I discovered I loved to do.  The more I wrote, the more I saw expression of the hidden dreams I’d been holding on to.  This year, I have taken on more writing challenges I never would have imagined.  I joined Story 101 with dreamfire-builder-life-affirmer, Elora.

Through Story 101 sessions, I also met another wonderful dream-firestarter, Brandy, and somehow, I said yes to being a contributing writer for Wild Goslings, a book on engaging children in the mysteries of God in ways that allow them to experience God without religious constraints.  To borrow a term from across the waters in England … I was and still am “gobsmacked.”  I never imagined I would have stepped out of my zone of comfort to write on something about which I care deeply and that matters to my soul – encouraging the dreamers to make those imaginative ideas tangible realities.  This, my friends, is the essence of how we help our children dream too.  Continue reading What It Means to Help Children Dream

On Beauty – It’s Not About the Looks

I’ve read the book of 1st Peter lots of times, but today is the day I see different.  Today I have a new affirmation I didn’t even know I needed. It was one of those Aha! moments, and I get it.  As though the Father spoke directly to me, “I see you, Daughter.”
