Breathing Alive

I originally posted this in November 2013, but it still resonates with me, so here it is again.  Because some words never lose their power.

fly marvia davidsonBreak out of your comfort zone. You were made for more, so much more. Have you purposefully chosen to live in the in between moments? Now’s a good time to take stock of what really matters. Now is a good time to allow discomfort to propel you to the more your life was designed for.

Think of this … You’ll land the dream job, then what? You’ll get the salary you want, then what? You’ll pay off your debts, then what? You’ll do that dream thing you’ve been wanting to for years, and then what?  You’ll break barriers and tear down walls that lead to freedom, and then what?  Will you have “arrived?”

Then what???

The Beginning {Or Why I’m Here}

no stopping marvia davidsonI am a writer.  I write.  I’ve enjoyed writing for at least half my life.  However, the majority of that writing was in journals of various sorts.  I started by first blog in 2009 with a different name.  Then I started another one, because I was still trying to figure out what I wanted to write about and take a shine to.  I began my third blog, The Human Impulse, that same year.  This one is a much more natural feel.  It’s about the impulse within each of us beating softly, refusing to be silent, reminding us who we really are.

So why am I writing all this to you, and myself, now? Because I am in the process of writing a manifesto.  I’m laying down the bones of a dream burning like fire in my heart.  It won’t let me go, so I’m giving it breath and space to live now.  I do not wish to take these words with me to the grave.   I wish to cast them far and wide.  They may not be for all, but somewhere they will catch, and do what they’re intended to do.

Making the Space – Own Your Dream

what dreams may come marvia davidsonFire.  Passion.  Hope.  Momentum.  Dreams have this kind of spark.

Have you ever had a dream burning in your heart?  It’s flames consuming your every waking moment.  It won’t leave you alone.  It won’t let you go.  It wants you to stop what you’re doing right now and take notice.

This is your life.  It is screaming from the rafters.  Its voice is ripped, swollen, and bloody from every attempt to catch your ear.

Now it is pounding.  Pounding louder.  It won’t go away.  It will not be silenced.  You even hear it getting closer. Continue reading Making the Space – Own Your Dream

Art Everyday – Day 15

Moon over Texas
Moon over Texas

Stopping.

Twilights like this one lead me to ponder life.  Am I exhausted because I work hard?  Am I tired because I’m doing the most?  Am I worn out because I’m trying to be too much?

All valid questions.

Even the art of a friendless vivid moon in nature whispers the need for me to be still and know.  To be still and rest.  To be still and cease from fruitless toil.

To be alone in the silence.

To be …

Why is that so hard for some of us?

Art Everyday Month – Day 11

me art marvia davidsonRemember Whose You Are

We are intricately designed and utterly unique.  No two of us are alike.  Our lives toss and turn, ebb and flow, traversing hills and valleys.  We are who we are who we really are.  Did you catch that?

When I think about art tonight, I realize many times I come “blank.” There seems to be nothing to offer, no paint to spill, no comfort to design, or no recipe to bake.
