Bloom
All these blossoms
All these stems
All these blades
Were made to bloom

What if being a whole and authentic creative soul meant remembering who you always are?  Would you still create?  Would you still write?  Would you revel in the thought, or would you be stilted, crushed, or even immobilized?  Sister, it’s okay.  We’ll walk together on this journey.  Being a real and true creative soul means embracing the whole of your story, and we want all of you to shine.  How can that divine light in you shine bright and undimmed, if you’re hiding or switching the lights off?

Today I’m over at The Story Sessions with a love letter to creative souls.  Come take a read, and be encouraged.  Perhaps you might find something of the return to being fully you, fully whole, and fully aware that you carry beauty and hope.  It’s what the world needs more of right now – people who love and are real and true.

An Unconventional Love Letter {Real Talk Tuesday}

If kindness is currency for the heart, then love letters are gold for the soul.  In this week’s Real Talk Tuesday Link Up our theme is #LoveLetters.  My love letter is a bit unconventional, however, it is a letter of hope, of restoration, of truth, of healing, and of love for the here and now.

“If i like a moment, i don’t like to have the distraction, so i stay in it”

dear heart,

in mending the soul, we learn to face the truth about our abuse.  it is hard.  life sucks.  brokenness.  pain, violence, and not having a voice all suck.  just being real here, but when you’ve suffered abuse of any kind, that last thing you naturally want to do is face the dissonance of truth.  even if that truth will set you free. there is a chord within that finds the entire process counter intuitive. Truth for Today

i hear you marvia davidsonLife is often crazy. I have found that though I should pray more during these times, I usually don’t. I might barely offer up the “emergency toss up prayer” and go on about the business of living; but this is not living the abundant life in Christ.

God cares about the every-day-ordinary-mundane events of our lives. Nothing gets past Him, and nothing goes unnoticed; so it would make sense then to tell Him everything; but I don’t always do that. Continue reading Truth for Today

When He Misses Me

anna rabe for marvia davidson

Women who inspire are everywhere. In the Story Sessions community, I have met several of these women who speak truth, hope, light, and life. Today, my story sister, Anna, writes about pressing in to life when you are missing the one you love. I am grateful to know her though we’ve never met, one day we shall, she is my writing sister. I know her words will be a comfort to you.

When he’s missing me unconsciously, he reaches out for me in his sleep. But, I am not there. I am not within arm’s reach; I’m not even in the same hemisphere. He comes home to a dark and empty house. He comes home to a clean kitchen. He comes home to things undisturbed and unchanged.

He packs his own lunch, and makes his own breakfast. It is the same as before, but is different from when I’m there. He rations out the last of the soup, and the banana bread I made for him before I flew away.
