A Love Letter to Those Who Wish to Rise

dreams m davidsonI didn’t always believe in my dreams.  I found it much easier to tag along with other people’s dreams.  They seemed so vibrant, so promising, so intriguing.  The way that went after them with fire was inspiring to me.  I tried ceaselessly to fan their flame my way, to embers burning dimly.

Sister, mother, friend, brother, you need to know, and so do I.  We have beautiful beginnings birthing in each one of us.  We have a creative bent unique to each one of us.

Today, I choose to believe in my dreams, my words, my creativity.  Will you choose with me? For yourself?

I’m over at the Story Sessions today with a love letter to those who wish to rise. Come read the rest, and find your embrace. Your words are welcome.

You, sister, you will rise.

Grateful

poppies marvia davidsonGiggles and joys.
Heavy heaves and soulful sighs.
Bright mornings and cool evenings.
Highs and lows with everything in between.
I am grateful for all these things.

I think what has come was born from the broken places.
Where weeds once sprouted, I now find flowers.
Where dirt and earth once refused to give away,
I now find softened under my feet.

Grace has kept me.
Love has led me.
Hope has lifted me.

I am grateful. Continue reading Grateful

Mess {It’s Beautiful}

no tame life marvia davidsonIt’s Five Minute Friday, and today’s word is “Mess.”  How fitting a word for a time like this! There are competing passions, competing ideas, competing relationships, competing emotions, competing hopes.  They refused to be tied up in a pretty, neat, little, ribbon-wrapped boxed of delight.  Nope.  Not these things.  You cannot always tame the competing things of life and living.

An Open Letter To …

Dear Me Marvia DavidsonDear Marvs…

Don’t be trippin booh!  You are stronger than you think you are.  You have accomplished far more than you’ve given yourself credit for.  You have overcome some funky wonky obstacles you didn’t think you’d make it through, but look … God brought you through.

And every moment you thought you’d fall apart to the ground in a million pieces, the Lord came – reminded you that He “holds all things together.”  Then remember when He whispered these words that set your soul at ease?  You know!  Those life-words that no human could ever have known you needed.  Here they are again: “we (You, child of God) are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we (You, dear one) should walk in them.”

What It Means to Help Children Dream

Wild Goslings by Brandy Walker

I never really had a dream to write.  It was just something I discovered I loved to do.  The more I wrote, the more I saw expression of the hidden dreams I’d been holding on to.  This year, I have taken on more writing challenges I never would have imagined.  I joined Story 101 with dreamfire-builder-life-affirmer, Elora.

Through Story 101 sessions, I also met another wonderful dream-firestarter, Brandy, and somehow, I said yes to being a contributing writer for Wild Goslings, a book on engaging children in the mysteries of God in ways that allow them to experience God without religious constraints.  To borrow a term from across the waters in England … I was and still am “gobsmacked.”  I never imagined I would have stepped out of my zone of comfort to write on something about which I care deeply and that matters to my soul – encouraging the dreamers to make those imaginative ideas tangible realities.  This, my friends, is the essence of how we help our children dream too.  Continue reading What It Means to Help Children Dream
