Chances in Life {Thoughts on the Secret Life of Walter Mitty}

distraction m davidsonI am deeply moved by words and various forms of music.  So when we had a virtual movie night in the Story Sessions community, I was quite surprised.  I was surprised because I found that I actually liked The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.  I’ve taught the original James Thurber short story, so I was a bit biased.  My story sisters raved about the film, so I thought I’d join.  Best.  Decision.  Ever.

Sometimes I fear {Thoughtful Thursday}

peace promise marvia davidsonSometimes the words we write carry eternal weight.  So today I’m sharing words I’ve written before because the message was timely five years ago; and it’s still relevant today.

There’s been frenzied-frantic-freak-out talk these last few weeks about the world, the economy, and life in general. I’ve been thinking how it’s so easy to get caught up in the storms raging around us that we lose sight of who and what is most important to us.

Government can’t solve our problems. People can’t solve all problems. They’re fickle and finite, and their efforts–at best are only temporal. Continue reading Sometimes I fear {Thoughtful Thursday}

In the Story Sessions community, women come together from every walk of life to share the writing journey. No woman is left to wander alone. We surround one another with affirmation, hope, swift-kick-motivation, and hearts that listen and embrace the whole of members. We also write.

One word already feels stronger than a resolution. One word to describe what I want my life to look like in 2014 colors my perspective with hope. I like this.

It is empowering and encouraging. It is a divine whisper that will carry me through, move me forward, and remind me to live purposefully.

There Was Dream

There was a dream I once held I my hands

It always belonged to me.

Somewhere along the way it slipped from my hands

It slept soundly for years, hidden from view

Its deep swollen cries ignored

It began to whisper in the lingering moments of evening

Breaking through a thicket of lies and broken pieces

It slowly become a lion’s roar

The sound was deafening

The dream is on fire, blazing vehemently

The crackle and incessant hiss demands to be heard

There was a dream. It is now. It is alive.
