Still You Are Here

gentle marvia davidsonSo I’m writing a book, a second memoir of sorts.  It’s been an interesting process and also emotionally exhausting.  I’ve rediscovered and also uncovered new things about life, faith, and pressing in to life.  None of the writing has been easy, but I think it has been worth it to dig in to the whole truth hidden behind doors.  Of course, writing memoir can take a lot of a person.  Be gentle with yourself. Sometimes you come to the page blank.  Words won’t come.  You’re staring at a blank screen.  Nothing is making sense.  I had that moment the other day. Continue reading Still You Are Here

Though Your Footsteps Were Not Seen

heart recall marvia davidsonCrying, Crying out
Here, I am in distress
There is no solace
My eyes grow weary
I cannot find comfort.

Too troubled to speak
I lie upon this bed, weeping.
Heart Meditating
Will I always be rejected?
Where is His unfailing love?
Has mercy fled my life?

Oh! I must make appeal
Heart, you must remember!
Soul, recall the mighty deeds.
There is none greater than God.
He has not forgotten.
Yes! Mind and soul humbly reflect. Continue reading Though Your Footsteps Were Not Seen

Sometimes I fear {Thoughtful Thursday}

peace promise marvia davidsonSometimes the words we write carry eternal weight.  So today I’m sharing words I’ve written before because the message was timely five years ago; and it’s still relevant today.

There’s been frenzied-frantic-freak-out talk these last few weeks about the world, the economy, and life in general. I’ve been thinking how it’s so easy to get caught up in the storms raging around us that we lose sight of who and what is most important to us.

Government can’t solve our problems. People can’t solve all problems. They’re fickle and finite, and their efforts–at best are only temporal. Continue reading Sometimes I fear {Thoughtful Thursday}

Shadow Keeper

shadow keeper marvia davidson 1

She was a shadow keeper
Hidden in the hush of quiet
A dreamer bright with
Living hopes and silent dreams

She was a door keeper
Closed off behind a veil of separation
A child slighted by cruel words
Backward glances and doubting ears

shadow keeper 3 marvia davidson 2
She was a wound keeper
Sheltered in the cleft of broken bearing
A shattered heart with
Unspoken pain and smoldering embers

She was a sword-war keeper
Violently thrashing in her own bottled way
A bleeding warrior pierced
by the unbecoming and betraying embrace

shadow keeper marvia davidson 3

She is a story keeper
wholly embracing all of life
A woman on fire
With lovely chards of
Healing written across the sky

The Call

In the Story Sessions community, women come together from every walk of life to share the writing journey. No woman is left to wander alone. We surround one another with affirmation, hope, swift-kick-motivation, and hearts that listen and embrace the whole of members. We also write.

Last week our write-in prompt was a photo of a female statue. Here is my poem/song, written for the women who dream, build, bridge, and press in to community.
