Because I Am A Writer {And You Are Too}

bogel art marvia davidsonWhat does one do when her career world falls to pieces and all that’s left is uncertainty?  I had lost a job and needed a creative outlet.  I chose to journal and write about my experience.

The one thing I remember is thinking, I want to be in a writing community.  I had never been in one.  I didn’t even know if it would be the right thing for me to do.  I only knew I wanted to be among a community of writers.  After all, what else was I going to do with all the time I have been “gifted,” aside from job searching and networking?  I took a chance on diving into writing community with a course called Story 101 (affiliate link).  My creative life hasn’t been that same since, and it’s one of the best investments I have made. Love Letter to Creative Souls

Bloom
All these blossoms
All these stems
All these blades
Were made to bloom
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What if being a whole and authentic creative soul meant remembering who you always are?  Would you still create?  Would you still write?  Would you revel in the thought, or would you be stilted, crushed, or even immobilized?  Sister, it’s okay.  We’ll walk together on this journey.  Being a real and true creative soul means embracing the whole of your story, and we want all of you to shine.  How can that divine light in you shine bright and undimmed, if you’re hiding or switching the lights off?
Today I’m over at The Story Sessions with a love letter to creative souls.  Come take a read, and be encouraged.  Perhaps you might find something of the return to being fully you, fully whole, and fully aware that you carry beauty and hope.  It’s what the world needs more of right now – people who love and are real and true.
It’s a blogging tour, and I’m up next to share my personal writing process from Mary Beth Pavlik at Pink Briefcase (enjoy reading her blog).  Next week the blog tour will head to Jane Argiero.
Come on in and take a peek at my writing process.  It may not be perfect, but it’s getting me where I need to go. Continue reading My Writing Process
The Beginning {Or Why I’m Here}
no stopping marvia davidsonI am a writer.  I write.  I’ve enjoyed writing for at least half my life.  However, the majority of that writing was in journals of various sorts.  I started by first blog in 2009 with a different name.  Then I started another one, because I was still trying to figure out what I wanted to write about and take a shine to.  I began my third blog, The Human Impulse, that same year.  This one is a much more natural feel.  It’s about the impulse within each of us beating softly, refusing to be silent, reminding us who we really are.
So why am I writing all this to you, and myself, now? Because I am in the process of writing a manifesto.  I’m laying down the bones of a dream burning like fire in my heart.  It won’t let me go, so I’m giving it breath and space to live now.  I do not wish to take these words with me to the grave.   I wish to cast them far and wide.  They may not be for all, but somewhere they will catch, and do what they’re intended to do.
Shadow Keeper
shadow keeper marvia davidson 1
She was a shadow keeper
Hidden in the hush of quiet
A dreamer bright with
Living hopes and silent dreams
She was a door keeper
Closed off behind a veil of separation
A child slighted by cruel words
Backward glances and doubting ears
 shadow keeper 3 marvia davidson 2
She was a wound keeper
Sheltered in the cleft of broken bearing
A shattered heart with
Unspoken pain and smoldering embers
She was a sword-war keeper
Violently thrashing in her own bottled way
A bleeding warrior pierced
by the unbecoming and betraying embrace
shadow keeper marvia davidson 3
She is a story keeper
wholly embracing all of life
A woman on fire
With lovely chards of
Healing written across the sky
