Something of Worth {Thoughtful Thursday}

worth it marvia davidsonFind goodness in the everyday mundane. I think this where some of the best inspiration comes from – those unsung moments. You know the ones. They take you by surprise. They offer unexpected hope. They breathe into you and cause you to inhale a deep, cleansing breath. Sometimes we don’t have to look for the goodness. It just shows up. A sparkle of joy shines like a diamond in the rough of the day.

I found such beauty in the ordinary, everyday, mundane yesterday. It was a black wall, beginning to blossom with words of life, courage, and empowerment. A co-worker came and hustled three of us outside. She was so excited.

“I want you guys to come see something. It will inspire you. It will only take 5 minutes.”

Grateful

poppies marvia davidsonGiggles and joys.
Heavy heaves and soulful sighs.
Bright mornings and cool evenings.
Highs and lows with everything in between.
I am grateful for all these things.

I think what has come was born from the broken places.
Where weeds once sprouted, I now find flowers.
Where dirt and earth once refused to give away,
I now find softened under my feet.

Grace has kept me.
Love has led me.
Hope has lifted me.

I am grateful. Continue reading Grateful

Breathing in, Breathing Out

Do you feel that breeze?
A quiet hush of the holy warms upon my cheeks
Embracing the soul in welcoming comfort
Feel that?
The sense of all-consuming peace, swaying
Rests heavy on my brow.
I’m breathing in
Breathing out.
Serenity

Do you see it?
There is a brightness
Penetrating woeful darkness
Pointing me again to truth
A vibrant sword of yellow-white flickering
With specks of glory dust
See it?
The sense of calm
Rests softly on my bosom.
I’m breathing in
Breathing out
Distillation

Do you hear that song?
A sacred melody soaring higher
Pulls this heart to the center of wholeness
Hear it?
The sense of softly falling rain
Gently washing away the chaos stain
Rests lightly on my soul
I’m breathing in
Breathing out
Destiny
cloud light marvia davidson
Do you smell this perfumed renewal?
An incense of feeble prayers mixed with the
Rain-washed sorrows of rose
And the memory of myrrh
Smell it?
The sense of love no longer entombed
But now a fragrant freedom offering
I’m breathing in
Breathing out
Restoration

Do you taste joyful bloom of spring?
A velvet honey-sweet of brokenness
Shooting up from the solemn ground
Taste it?
The sense of hope a nimble lavender sugar enveloping
Every fiber of my being
I’m breathing in
Breathing out
Belonging

Acceptance

remember marvia davidson
 It shines bright here now.
The ground was barren for so long.
My feet forgot the memory of soft
grass welcoming soft, fleshy
bodies in its embrace.
I’m waking up now.
I’m waking up now.

Leaves cease to taste so brittle and bitter.
Their shade is now my reverie, a reprieve.
A canopy of light dawns, piercing the shadowy broken.
How have I lived this way so long, without the sun?
Lonely is a lonely place.
I’m waking up now.
I’m waking up now.
